The Logi was not an easy role. It involved too much multitasking and micromanagement for most.
That, and people didn't know how to play while under reps. Time and time again bad players leave the flank exposed and their logi gets killed, and even blame them for it.
A person under reps has a job to protect their support unit in addition to killing things. A logibro has a job to kill things and make sure everyone stays up (+ links, scans, ammo, etc). That's right, I put "kill things" first. I'm calling out the overrated logis that were just there to farm WP and couldn't handle themselves in a firefight. The ones that are never even visible on the frontline and hold R1 the entire match on people with full shields.

I agree with your kill first statement and I don't remember if I made a post on it ages ago, but I stressed that logos can't rely solely on equipment in a game that's about shooting. If you can't kill, how do you expect to help team efficiently? It's not just about reps etc
Exactly; if no one needs reps, the logi should be adding DPS. Making something die twice as fast before all the other reds respond is better then a battle of attrition, as dragging it out will leave you outnumbered, therefore flanked, therefore dead.
I speak from being a survivalist duo with a Galmando who I synergized extremely well with (CeeJ Mantis). Working with a full squad is a bit more complicated, but fundamentally the same.
Taking care of blues is another story altogether. Always used long range reps since they like to wander away before they're topped off.

Bingo, in addition to that some players were unaware that they were being repped in the first place.....
Wayyy back, the edges of the screen used to glow yellow while being repped. I'll admit, it was excessive, but the complete removal made things harder for both parties.
